There are some challenges you sign up for because they sound exciting.
Then there are the ones you sign up for because they genuinely matter.
On 17th July at 11am, I'll be stepping over the edge of Whiston Hospital to complete an abseil in support of MWL NHS Charity, raising money for the Stroke & Rehabilitation Unit.
And if you know me, you'll know there's one small problem...
I'm absolutely terrible with heights
Why This Matters
Like many families, we've all seen first-hand the incredible work carried out by NHS staff.
Every single day they support people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Whether it's providing emergency treatment, helping someone recover after a stroke, or supporting families during uncertain times, they never stop giving.
The Stroke & Rehabilitation Team help patients rebuild their lives after experiencing a stroke. Recovery isn't just about leaving hospital—it's about regaining confidence, independence and quality of life. Donations help fund specialist equipment, enhanced therapies and resources that go beyond NHS funding, giving patients the very best chance of recovery.
Facing a Personal Fear
I'll happily organise events, stand in front of a camera or speak to a room full of people.
But standing on the edge of a building?
That's a completely different story.
I'm not doing this because I'm fearless.
I'm doing it because some causes are bigger than our fears.
If taking a few nervous steps over the edge can help raise money for people rebuilding their lives after a stroke, then it's worth every second of it.
Every Donation Makes a Difference
Whether it's £5, £10 or £50, every donation helps support patients and their families during what can be one of the most challenging times of their lives.
If you're able to support me, I'd be incredibly grateful.
If you're not in a position to donate, simply sharing my fundraising page with friends and family would mean just as much.
Together we can help make a real difference.
Thank you for your support.
